Beginning its journey in 1950, Siliguri College has been contributing towards the education development of North Bengal and the surrounding region for the last 62 years. In 2010, the college celebrated Diamond Jubilee to mark 60 years of its existence. Wide Ranging Curriculum
One of the highlighting features of Siliguri College is its wide range of curriculum, offering multiple options to students from varied backgrounds and aims. The college offers 109 programmes through 25 departments including 22 honours (major) in 22 subjects, the only institution in the region to run so many honours disciplines. Additionally, Siliguri College provides the option of vocational courses in Cimputer Applications and Travel and Tourism.
Impressive Faculty Team
To support the wide curriculum, the college boast of an impressive faculty team LED BY THE Principal Dr Malay Kanti Karanjai. The team consists of 75 substantive faculty post. As many as thirty of our faculty members hold a Ph.D degree. Additionally, there is a team of part-time and contractual teachers to provide necessary back-up. The college makes no compromises in ensuring that the students receive the best in terms of teaching and instructional requirements. Steps are taken to quickly fill up teaching vacancies whenever they arise.
Excellent Infrastructure
Centrally located in Siliguri, the college is an important landmark in the town. The campus area covers an area of 32119 sq metres and includes an impressive array of buildings housing the administrative section, class rooms, laboratories, central library with reading section, photo-copy unit. Job Oriented Courses
To keep pace with the changing times, the college introduced professional job oriented courses in its curriculum such as Microbiology, Computer Applications and Mass Communication & Journalism. These courses have been running for the last decade with great success, producing job-ready professionals well placed in lucrative positions. The college aims to further develop these departments to provide a special impetus to career-oriented learning in a bigger aim towards solving the employment problem.
