General Rules


Rules & Regulations for Pursuing a Degree in Siliguri College:

The Three Year B.A./B.Sc. General & Honours courses consists of Part I, Part II and Part III courses. A student can appear in the next year only after successful completion of the previous year of regular classes and exams in the college.

Subjects for Part I Honours Course will be as follows :


1.  A student will have to offer the following subjects at the B.A./B.Sc. (General/Honours) Part I Examination. 
One compulsory paper of any one of the following languages  carrying 50 marks: Bengal, Hindi and Nepali. 
2. B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) Part I Examination shall consist of the following in addition to two compulsory papers as mentioned in Clause 1. 
(i) Two Elective Subjects each carrying 150 marks consisting of such theory, theoretical/practical papers as prescribed by the respective Board of Under Graduate Studies. 
(ii) One Honours subject of 200 marks consisting of such theory, theoretical/ practical papers as prescribed by the respective Board of Under Graduate Studies.

Subjects for Part I General Course will be as follows :

3. B.A./B.Sc. (General) Part I Examination shall consist of in addition to the compulsory paper as stated in Clause 1, three Elective subjects each 150 marks consisting of such theory, theoretical/practical papers as prescribed by the respective Board of Under Graduate Studies.

Subjects for Part II Honours Course will be as follows :

 4. One compulsory paper of English Language carrying 50 marks. B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) Part II examinations shall consist of the following in addition to the compulsory papers mentioned above

1.    Two elective subjects each carrying 150 marks consisting of such theory, theoretical/practical papers as prescribed by the respective Board of Under Graduate Studies.

2.    One Honours subject of 200 marks consisting of such theory, theoretical/practical papers as prescribed by the respective Board of Under Graduate Studies.

Subjects for Part II General Course will be as follows :

5. B.A./B.Sc. (General) Part II Examination shall consist of in addition to one compulsory paper on English language carrying 50 marks, 150 marks in each of the same three elective subjects as were offered in Part I Examination, consisting of such theory, theoretical/practical papers as prescribed by the respective Board of Studies.

Subjects for Part III Honours Course will be as follows :

6. B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) Part III Examination shall consist of one compulsory papers on Environmental Studies carrying 50 marks and the same Honours subject as offered in Part I  and Part II Examination, carrying of such theory, theoretical/practical papers as prescribed by the respective Board of Studies.

Subjects for Part III General Course will be as follows :

7. B.A./B.Sc. (General) Part III Examination shall consist of in addition to one compulsory papers on Environmental Studies carrying 50 marks, 100 marks in each of the same three elective subjects as were offered in Part I and Part II Examination, consisting of such theory, theoretical/practical papers as prescribed by the respective Board of Studies.
