Application in prescribed forms for admission to the 1st Year Degree Courses (Arts, Science & B.C.A.) for the Session 2011-2012 in Siliguri College are invited from the eligible candidates.
ELIGIBILITY / CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION IN 1ST YEAR DEGREE COURSES :-
Candidates passed H.S. ( West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education ) or equivalent 10+2 Examination 2011 in regular courses with 4(FOUR) subjects (including English excluding EVS / EVE) obtained at least 45% marks in their Last Examination 2011 are eligible to apply for General Courses.
S.C. / S.T. candidates passed “P” Division are also eligible to apply.
A credit panel of eligible applicants will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained.
- ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION TO GENERAL COURSES :-
Candidates passed H.S.(West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education) or equivalent 10+2 Examination 2011 in regular course with 4(Four) subjects including English excluding EVS / EVE are eligible to apply for General Courses , subject to the conditions as noted below :-

- ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION TO HONOURS COURSES :-
Candidates passed H.S.(West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education) or equivalent 10+2 Examination, 2011 in regular course with 4(Four) subjects including English excluding EVS / EVE are eligible to apply for Honours Courses , subject to the conditions as noted below :-

- For All other Honours Courses including Self Financed Courses the entry level criteria will be :
- Those candidates who obtained either (i) 55% marks in the aggregate or (ii) 50% in the aggregate with 60% marks in the subject
- For SC/ST candidates -à (i) 50% marks in the aggregate or (ii) 45% in the aggregate with 60% in
the subject.
- The calculation of the cut-off level shall strictly be on the ‘CREDIT’ basis.
CREDIT FOR HONOURS = [ 2 x Subject Marks(seeking Honours in) + Total ( Sum of Four subjects including English excluding EVS / EVE, i.e. English + Subject opted for Honours + Other two best scored subjects)] / 6
CREDIT FOR GENERAL = [T1 (Sum of four subjects including English excluding EVS/EVE, i.e. English + Three other best scored subjects)]/4
- DISTRIBUTION OF APPLICATION FORMS :- [11:00 A.M. TO 2:30 P.M. (SATURDAY UPTO 1:30 P.M.)]
Prescribed Application forms along with the prospectus will be available from the College Office from 09.06.2011 to 17.06.2011 against payment of Rs. 50.00 (Rupees Fifty) only for all Regular Courses (Bengali, English, Hindi, Nepali, Sanskrit, Political Science, History, Philosophy, Economics, Geography, Sociology, Statistics, Physical Education, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Physiology) and Rs. 100.00 (Rupees One hundred) only for Self-Financed Courses (B.C.A., Computer Science(Honours & General), Microbiology(Honours & General) and Mass Communication & Journalism (Honours) on production of a photocopy of marksheet on and from 09.06.2011 to 17.06.2011.
- SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS :-
Duly filled in application forms with necessary enclosures are to be submitted on and from 09.06.2011 to 17.06.2011 from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. (Saturday upto 2:30 P.M.). On 17.06.2011 the duly filled Application Form will be received upto 04:00 P.M.
- ENCLOSURES :-
Candidates applying for General / Honours courses are to enclose the following documents with their applications:
- One photocopy of Mark Sheet of the last Examination 2011 (duly attested)
- One photocopy of the S.C./S.T. certificate of the candidate or the father of the candidate (duly attested)
- One photocopy of the Admit Card of the Madhyamik Pariksha (or equivalent examination) as age proof(duly attested)
- One Stamp size Photograph.
- A certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended (Character Certificate).
INCOMPLETE APPLICATION FORM WILL BE TREATED AS CANCELLED
- NOTE :-
- Mere submission of application form does not ensure admission to any course.
- Admission Committee reserves the right to cancel or alter any combination of any candidates.
- Geography combination in General Course will be given on the basis of marks obtained in the subjects at last Examination 2011.
- A candidate is eligible to apply for more than one stream (Arts / Pure Sc. / Bio. Sc. / Self – financed Course) in specific FORM for a specific stream.
- There will be FORMS of different colour for different streams :
ARTS - GREEN
PURE SC. - YELLOW
BIO SC. - PINK
SELF FINANCED - BLUE
- Mention of subjects of different streams in single FORM other than the subject of that stream will not be entertained.
- Preference once given for Honours subject will be strictly adhered to.
- Filling in a University Registration Form are to be completed at the time of admission other than the candidates whose options are open.
- Affidavits from the Notary Public in respect to prevention of ragging as per proforma from the candidate and from his/her parent/guardian is mandatory and are to be completed at the time of admission.
